Birobidzhan is a unique city in the Russian Far East, the capital of the world's only Jewish Autonomous Okrug. Different cultures and traditions merge here, creating a special atmosphere of communication and new acquaintances.
The city is named for the area Birobidzhan: so called space between the rivers (from evenk.bira - river + Bijan, Bijoy - permanent camp). The history of the city begins with 1912, when the Government decided on the settlement areas along the railway right of the Amur railway.
