Michurinsk - City, Science City, located on the right bank of the River Forest Voronezh. Michurinsk previously Kozlov, founded by Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich on September 5, 1635 as a fortified point for the defense of Ryazan and Shatsky, Ryazhskikh Dankovskiy and places from the raids of Crimean and Nogai Tatars. In 1932, in honor of the scientist-breeder Ivan Michurin (during his lifetime) Kozlov city was renamed Michurinsk.
