Ustyuzhna - the city is located on both banks of the Mologa River (it flows into the Rybinsk Reservoir). For the first time the city is mentioned in the Uglich chronicle of 1252 under the name Ustyug-Zhelezny, which is connected with the city's location on the Iron Field, a region rich in marsh iron ore and is associated with the beginning of the development of metallurgy in Russia.
