Korenovsk is located on the flat part of the Kuban-Azov lowland, on the banks of the Beysuzhyok River Left (tributary of the river Beysub). The town of Korenovsk, the former village of Korenovskaya, the former Korenovskiy Kuren is one of 58 Zaporozhye kurens founded by Cossacks who arrived in the Kuban in 1792-1795 from Transnistria as part of the Black Sea Cossack army.
